Already in the past we had written about apps to find out who unfollowed you on twitter and some of them have stopped working now. Here I come up with the list of new applications to know who unfollowed me on twitter. These websites can track and find out who unfollowed you on twitter recently. Twitter shows the counter, the number of people who follow us. When we see it going down, don’t get panic. You can find out who unfollowed you recently with the help of these tools.

Once you’re done with finding out who unfollowed you recently, your next step should be to find out who is not following you. Sometimes you follow people without expecting in return that they will follow you. Now you need to find those who’re not following you. Tools to help you find who is not following you on twitter. Ask them politely to follow you.

If you’re on Facebook and want to find out who unfriended you on Facebook, here is the tutorial.

Find out who removed you on Google plus circles. Also learn the reasons why people unfollow you on twitter.

How to find out who recently unfollowed me on twitter

All the apps which are mentioned below needs your twitter account to authorize so that they can scan and send timely updates on who unfollowed you.

Unfollowers.me

Sign in with your twitter account

Find out which twitter follower has unfollowed you

Get notifications by email, tweet or DM

Also find who is not following you back.

Unfollow.fr

It’s a French site. It finds no-follow back and inactive followings.

You can receive the name of your unfollowers by mail or DM.

Just unfollow

Just unfollow is a popular twitter management tool.

It can find out who unfollowed me on twitter.

It can unfollow non-followers and inactive users.

You can also follow back those who follow you.

Previously we had reviewed Just unfollow here 1 and here 2.

Who.Unfollowed.me

Email or DM’s you when someone unfollowed you on twitter.

It checks for people who’re not following you back.

No automatic tweets without your permission.

No non-sense tool.

Managing a twitter account is not as simple as that. If you don’t want to follow someone, but you want to read their tweets, you can add them to twitter lists which are easy to manage. Follow only people who interact with humans. You can use twitter lists to add bots and other official twitter accounts of brands and products.

Twitter removed the old fashioned way of retweeting after they revamped the web interface design. But still many of the third party twitter apps has this feature of retweeting old school way. Personally, I always retweet old school way. <a href="http://www.madrasgeek.com/2010/08/5-reasons-to-use-tweetdeck.html"title="5 Reasons to use TweetDeck" target="_blank">Tweetdeck is my favorite twitter app and recently twitter acquired tweetdeck and started to kill it slowly. Because tweetdeck was used by millions of people, twitter wanted people to use their web interface. First they killed the tweetdeck adobe air app, then made few changes to their web interface and removed the option to retweet old school way.

When browsing the chrome app store, found this extension that adds an Old RT style to twitter <a href="http://www.madrasgeek.com/2011/01/5-reasons-to-use-twitter-web-interface.html"title="5 Reasons to Use Twitter Web Interface" target="_blank">web interface. The extension is available for both Chrome and Firefox. What’s so special about Old RT style? It gives me an option to enter my comment with the Retweet that am going to send. Currently the retweet option in the web interface doesn’t allow you to edit anything. Old school way allows me to edit or enter some text before I push the tweet.

Classic ReTweet is the chrome extension that adds an old school RT option next to Retweet in the twitter web interface.

Once you’ve installed the extension, close the browser and reopen it to log in twitter. You can find the option to RT old school way below each tweet in your home feed.

If you’re using chrome – here is the web store link

Firefox users can install the addon from the extensions repository.

Recently I stumbled upon this small app called Twitter Image Downloader that helps you to download images from any twitter profile. Few months back twitter changed the layout of image view. If you want to view images shared by any twitter profile, it was displaying in grid view. Now, the layout has been changed and shows images one by one. To solve this and also to download the images easily, Codebetweenthelines has developed this small app.

You might wonder, what’s the big deal in grid view? You don’t know how many people miss the grid layout view. Read the support threads on twitter discussions. So the Twitter Image Downloader app will display all the images that you’ve shared on twitter from your profile. You can get the grid view images of any twitter profile.

All you need to do is, just enter the twitter username and wait for it to display the images in grid view. As the app uses twitter API, there is a limit to it. It can only check under the latest 150 tweets for images.

It shows all the images uploaded directly to twitter website and images via Instagram app. It scraps the images hosted on twitter.com contains /photo/ or hosted on instagram where URL starts with instagr.am

Download Twitter Images

If you want to download twitter background images to design your profiles, read our article on 5 Websites to Design Free Twitter Backgrounds

You can even create a twitter background image with pictures of all your followers.

The new layout on twitter allows you to add header cover images which are similar like Facebook cover photo. Download free twitter header cover images.

Previously I had written about Facebook cover photos and websites to download funny creative Facebook cover photos. Twitter has recently made few changes to their web interface. Do you know? They introduced instagram like photo filters to their twitter mobile app. Also in web interface you can find changes to twitter profile headers. You can upload an image as a header to your twitter profile. When someone visits your twitter profile, a header image will be displayed behind your details like name, bio, links etc.

In the race between Facebook and Google+, twitter was only left out with the header cover images. Now with its new addition, you can add cover photos to your profile headers. Already Facebook and Google+ have option to customize header photos for profiles and pages. With this new option many twitter users were quick to unleash their creativity to create a custom image for the header of your profile.

Twitrcovers is a directory of interesting twitter header images which are pre-designed. Similar to websites that we have for Facebook cover photos, this one is for twitter. When you hover above images on twitrcovers.com you can find out how it will appear on your profiles. The site has variety of headers organized by categories.

If you haven’t aware about this feature on twitter, you can simply activate the header images for your twitter profile just by visiting > settings > design > change header image. Upload an image and save the changes.

Twitrcovers – You will love it for sure. You can select the image, keep it as your twitter header image or twitter profile background image. If you’re slightly geeky (root directories and path folders are open :P), you can save the original image and keep it as your Facebook cover picture.

For the past few days when I try to connect Tweetdeck, it says unable to connect. Please check your network. When decided to seek assistance, I found a solution to this error. If you’re like me facing this tweetdeck error “Unable to connect please check your network” – this is because of Windows 7 OS has some trouble accepting SSL Certificates from certain apps. So here is the solution.

Are you running Tweetdeck on Windows 7 and not able to connect? Did you get the error “Unable to connect please check your network”. Then follow the below instructions to get rid of this error.

Exit tweetdeck application and open Internet explorer browser. Now visit api.tweetdeck.com using your Internet explorer browser. Once IE accepts the secure server license by reaching the page (where you get some random text, numbers on the page) then Windows should connect in all other applications related to twitter.

Now finally close internet explorer and reopen tweetdeck. It should work now!

Earlier today, I had some random thoughts about the trend which I see these days. People who’re blogging all their thoughts have shifted slowly to twitter. All their thoughts are now into 140 characters tweets. Here am not talking about professional bloggers who blog for money. People who was blogging their random thoughts, daily life moments, some interesting conversations and happenings in their life now almost started tweeting those stuff within 140 characters and sharing pics using Twitpic, Instagram etc. They have adapted themselves to the latest trend.

I guess twitter gives them enough fun to get instant feedback, conversation with their friends, readers when they publish their thoughts. Is twitter a mini blog? Well actually yes it is. The real secret to using Twitter effectively is to think of it as a miniature blog. Sure, some people will use it to tell the world what they had for dinner, but as an internet marketer or pro bloggers, you got an altogether different purpose for it.

In fact starting to tweet on regular basis will actually make everything you write on your blog tighter. You bring up all your thoughts into 140 characters and when you wanted to write a blog post, you run out of ideas/words.

Well you certainly have lot more freedom with your blog than twitter. Because, with the recent incidents on Twitter and Facebook in India is atrocious. The right to freedom of speech is being taken down. A simple tweet against Indian politicians will land you up in jail.

Keeping it aside, has the trend changed? Do people love to tweet more and blog less? Few years back had a list of favorite blogs. I used to daily read and enjoy the posts. But today, all my favorite bloggers completely shifted to twitter. Now I am enjoying by reading their creative tweets on current topics.

Apart from them, some serious pro bloggers have started to share their thoughts on twitter and all their blog posts have just become news. For example: A product launch – take some mobile phone launch. Their blog posts are only about the product launch, price, specification, features etc.

But the real thoughts about the product and comparison with its competitor had shifted as tweets. I guess you can understand the point which am trying to convey here. The real thought about something is being told as tweets than on a blog post.

So the advantage of using twitter to convey your thoughts than writing it as a blog post is it allows you to get in touch with anyone else on the web instantly. Twitter provides you a medium to make sure that all your readers, followers and celebrities read your tweets or recognize you easily for your tweets. It also appeals to all those people who simply don’t have the time to keep up with the blog.

I understand the advantage of a blog; it allows you to write down your thoughts in depth. But then, if you’re a person who is much interested in tweeting your thoughts in less than 140 characters, you can use twitter and at times you can write it on your blog. Finally leave the blog URL in twitter bio. So when people find you on twitter, they get to see your blog and decide whether to jump into the blog to read.

My personal thought is twitter can never overtake blogs. Both blog and twitter are two different mediums anytime. Twitter is famous for its brevity and it’s a huge benefit. Twitter can always act as a forerunner to your blog. If you’re a serious pro blogger making money, then you shouldn’t replace the standard blog. It should go hand in hand with it, and those who really understand that link will do well with both.

If you’re just going to write down random thoughts, you can very well become popular on twitter. It will make you a twitter celebrity. I have seen many people who were once a creative blogger, now a twitter celebrity. Their 140 characters or less tweets become popular that it is been shown on media, quoted on newspapers and TV channels. So when mainstream media quotes from twitter tweets, people go crazy!

I am not sure whether I’ve put all the points in a right order. These are some random thoughts on hibernating blogs and tweeting more often. Not boasting that everyone should tweet instead of writing it on their blogs. But, the trend has really changed. When people have started to put their thoughts under 140, they don’t have enough to write on their blogs once again.

Twitter is really more of a social chat tool than real blogging. With all that real time feedback from your readers, twitter is definitely an enhancement for bloggers and not a replacement. These are some points that I can imagine as of now. I don’t know how to take this more. So if you have some valid points about this, do share with me through comments section below. I would love to hear your opinion on twitter vs. blogging.

There are tools to find out who unfollowed you on twitter. That awkward moment when you find who unfollowed you. But there is also another awkward moment when you find people who don’t follow you back. You may follow your friends on twitter or you may follow like-minded fellows on twitter, at some point of time starting with conversation, they may follow you back.

Sometimes they don’t follow you back. So, if you’re like how to find the ones who don’t follow me back on twitter. There are few apps. It checks the list of people you’re following and in that list it will list out the ones not following you back. So you have choices left to unfollow them or just leave it.

Similarly, I have written about apps to find your first tweet & to find fake twitter followers.

Here is the list of Ultimate 170+ Twitter apps and tools.

ReFollow app allows you to find who is not following you back. Once you’ve oAuth with your twitter account, it displays the results by I’m following and people who are not following me. So with the results of people who don’t follow you back, you can easily unfollow them.

Tweepi is another app; it helps you to unfollow those inactive twitter users. Inactive twitter users can be found by setting a date. So if a twitter account is found which has the previous tweeted dated 2 months back, it takes it as inactive account. So along with the inactive twitter accounts, it displays users who do not follow you back. You can unfollow them all in one click.

Tweepdash.com helps you find who doesn’t follow me back on twitter. It categorizes tweeps into three.

IFTTT is a simple task scheduler. IFTTT means IF This Then That. (If) you want to automate a task(this) (then) trigger the action(that). Previously we had covered lot of IFTTT recipes to automate web tasks such as sending Instagram pics to WordPress blogs, Upload Facebook photos to dropbox automatically and many more. If you follow our IFTTT tag, you can learn more. When you go to iFTTT there are alot of templates which are ready to use.

You can also create your own recipe. Today we are going to learn about create ifttt recipe for receiving Twitter SMS alert when some one you follow tweets or some one mentions you on twitter etc.

Let’s get started with – IF THIS THEN THAT.

First we are going to activate two channels that are important for our recipe to work.

1. Twitter channel
2. SMS channel.

Only when we connect these two things, we can trigger. IF This(Twitter) Then That (SMS)

Once you’ve signed in to IFTTT, follow this link to create your own recipe. If you’re a new member, sign up for free and start creating a new recipe.

Choose the trigger channel – Twitter.

Activate twitter channel by allowing it to authorize with your twitter account. Then, continue to next step by choosing your trigger.

Now here comes the main part – Your trigger. What you want to trigger ? There are lot of triggers. If some one follows you, when you send a new tweet, favorite tweet, new direct message, new tweet by a specific user, new tweet from a search, hashtag etc.

Here I am going to use the trigger when a New tweet from specific user.

Enter the twitter user name to watch and create the trigger.

The next part is “That”. The action side of the trigger. When you trigger this, what you want to happen ? We would now activate the SMS channel. So that when the trigger performs, it creates an action to Send SMS when a new tweet by a specific user.

Activate the SMS channel. Click the That and select SMS to activate.

Enter 00 , your country code, mobile number. For Indian users it will be example: 00919876543210

You will receive an SMS from IFTTT with the PIN. enter the PIN and activate the channel.

Finally select the Action. ” Send me an SMS when specific user sends out a new tweet everytime ”

You can select the SMS format that you would receive.

Once the recipe is created, it is checked once every 15 minutes.

You can also share this recipe which you created with others. So other people on IFTTT can use the recipe.

Similarly you can create lot of IFTTT recipes for new GMail notification as SMS, Weather updates to SMS etc.

If you run a contest on twitter where you have to select a winner from the tweeps who had tweeted the contest message with a @username or RT or #hashtag. Based on any of these three queries, you can draw winners from the tweets. Generally if you announce a contest and the entry to contest is to tweet about it, then finally selecting a winner will be tough task. Because, you need to find all the tweets, no duplicates and from the tweets you have to extract the usernames and using random.org you have to select a winner.

To avoid all these steps, a simple tool ‘Twitter Roulette’ going to choose a random tweet via a specific query. The familiar signs such as #, @, RT will be comfortable in this type of application. Suppose, if your contest rules go by tweeting a message with specific #hashtag or @usernames, then once contest gets over, you can select the winners by entering the #hashtag or @, RT.

In 3 steps you can lucky draw the winners -

1. Type the hashtag, mention or retweet your contestants were meant to tweet.

2. Press the “go” button and wait until the tool randomly picks a winner.

3. Generate a link to publicize the sweepstake winner. Repeat the steps as many times as you want.

Today found a crazy twitter app that lets you know the fakers and inactive accounts that follow you on twitter. Here am going to discuss about a small app that helps you find fake twitter followers and spam bots and also a way to remove the fakers. Previously I had written about twitter apps including unfollow twitter users who don’t follow you and deleting all my tweets at a time and many more.

You must have dozen twitter accounts for various testing purposes, some times if you want to turn into legit cleaning some fake twitter followers and spam bots will be more helpful in using the account. A small app developed by Status People ‘Fake Followers Check’ helps you in identifying the fake twitter followers and spam bots which you cannot do it manually as it is time consuming task.

You can simply authorize your twitter account to find out your fake twitter followers and also if you want to find how many fake followers your friends have. Below is the screenshot of my twitter account fakers score. You can follow me @dangerdiabolick and see my score below. I have 2% fake accounts followers and 8% of inactive followers. This tool helps me to find out how many spam accounts are following me.

The company tells you why you should use this tool –

First it’s important for you to be sure when you communicate on Twitter that you are communicating with real and active followers. Because the more active your follower base the more likely they are to share your content. The second reason is there are a growing number of Fakers out there. People who buy followers in a vain attempt to build legitimacy. “Look at me I have 20,000 followers, I must know my…” They are essentially trying to game the system and it’s important for you to be able to spot them, and steer clear of them.

You can find out yours at http://fakers.statuspeople.com/

This kind of service is limited useless because I do not really affect my followers. That said, I took the opportunity to clean up my account via manageflitter.com , but just a little better to manage my following and not my followers. Manage Flitter helps you to find who unfollowed you on twitter and also organize your followers/following lists and find new people on twitter.

Earlier I wrote a trick about finding your first tweet that you’ve tweeted on Twitter. At the time of writing it was working, later found through comments from people that the trick stopped working. So here is another way to find out your first tweet on twitter. The app helps you to display all the tweets on single page. With that if you scroll down to the last, you can find out the first tweet of any tweeple.

What is My First Tweet ?

My first tweet app (All My Tweets) is a simple web app that allows you to view all your tweets on one single page. From that, you can scroll down to last and find out your first tweet.

Twitter API has few limitations. The app works by retriving all your tweets in single page, but limits the number of tweets to 3200.

So, if your tweet count is less than 3200, you can easily find our your first tweet.

Let’s test out AllMyTweets app. I entered the twitter handle of popular Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar (sachin_rt)

In the above screenshot, I just highlighted his first tweeted.

The app shows all the tweets along with the date and a direct link to the tweet page.

It doesn’t show any deleted tweets from the user.

If you want to find out in which social network your website content is shared the most, then today I tell you about a cool web app that makes it easy for you. Why should you use this tool ? If you’re a webmaster or blogger, then targetting your audience on social network such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ is important. Because these three major social network has lot of people online daily. Only if you find at which social network is your website doing good, then you can plan and improve on other social networks as well.

One easy way to find out this is, if your website has Google analytics, then from the incoming visits, you can find the referral, but you cannot exactly find how many shares each webpages has got in Twitter, Facebook or Google+.

Socialcrawlytics answers to this question for free. It crawls your site (or your competitors’ if you want) looking for the social shares for each of the internal pages in the most popular social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Pinterest. With this information it generates a visually attractive report indicating the social networks where your pages have been shared.

Socialcrawlytics also generates a report specifying the total amount of shares that your site (or competitor’s) pages have had in each social network. So how to use this web app ? Just with few steps, you get your report.

Login with your twitter account, allow Social crawlytics (crawl+analytics) to authorize your twitter profile. Now you get to see the dashboard. You have 3 options to left of the app. To enter the website URL or any specific web page URL. To check the reports of websites and Logout option. First you need to enter the website URL or any specific web page url.

Once you’ve entered the URL, create the report by entering the crawl depth and how you want to read your reports. Either by posting it to twitter or email. The crawl depth is defined by how many clicks it would take from the starting page to the destination page. If you keep it as 0, then it would crawl only the first page. The value 1 will crawl first page and all the links contained on it and so forth.

If you don’t want to send the reports, you can view it inside the Social Crawlytics app as well. It shows the summary of total pages scanned and number of shares. The graph shows which pages are the source of your best share count per social network. It includes Twitter, Facebook, delicious, Linkedin, Googleplus and Stumbleupon.

Finally you have the Results where it shows the specific URL inside the webpage which you had entered and the number of shares on each social network. This app is completely a free service. Once you’ve logged in, it gives you free credits of 10,000 points. As you scan pages and view results, the points are reduced. If you’re down with points before you scan and view the entire results, then you can post a message on twitter to get unlimited points. It’s a way of advertising Social Crawlytics by a single tweet from you, which gives you access to more points.

Social Crawlytics.

Just some random thoughts on mind why I feel like unfollowing some people on twitter. Earlier I was like – Follow everyone back who follows me. Ended up in a big mess that I started to hate my twitter home feed. All these days I was using only my twitter list to follow tweeps in various niches. Thought of cleaning my twitter timeline, which brought me to write this post. Confused on what reasons I should unfollow tweeps. Finally thought of listing out. Here you go !

1. We haven’t had any conversation in long time.
2. Your tweets doesn’t excite me anymore.
3. If all your tweets are only links / bots.
4. If you don’t respond me.
5. Fake profiles with h0t girl display
6. Yet to fill the twitter bio and change the egg display, then I must hit unfollow.
7. Retweeting really dumb things (like most of the celebrities do)
8. Only Instagram / Foursquare tweets.
9. If you talk in Alien language.
10. Annoying with a gif display image.
11. Fanboys.
12. Spamming tweets with trending hashtags.

5 Ways to Find out Who Unfollowed You on Twitter

I don’t know what else I have in mind, may be I can update this post with some more reasons as I clean up my twitter feed. Felt like sharing this with you. All you need to learn from this is, never blindly follow some one thinking that he/she may be interesting (that’s like how I was doing twitter wrong). Don’t take it for granted. Find what are your interests and follow like minded quality people.

We had seen many twitter web apps and one of our popular blog post Ultimate list of 170+ twitter apps, tools includes lot of twitter related apps to follow/unfollow, schedule tweets, third party desktop twitter clients etc. If you’re following lot of people on twitter, sometimes there are chances to hear unwanted noise in the name of events and they trend it using hashtag. If you’re using third party desktop clients, then they have options to zip all the noise under hashtag. Twitter web interface lacks the fun !

Tweet Open Filter is a chrome extension that allows us to control what you want to read on twitter. If you find certain hashtags and tweets following it extremely offensive or irritating, then you can simple zip them using this extension.

Only the new twitter web interface lacks this feature. All other third party desktop clients, twitter mobile apps has this feature to zip all unwanted tweets under one hashtag.

Once installed you will see a new tab on Twitter, when pressed can enter specific words, hashtags and user names that we want to temporarily silence as, for example : #IamSoMiddleClass, #10ThingsILove, some football, cricket fans #IPL, foursquare checkins, Followfriday etc. We can save the settings as a marker, cleaning, activating and deactivating the filters with a single click.

This extension makes twitter more productive, less annoying. The tweets which you hide or not deleted, but hidden. The filter you make, can be saved as a bookmarklet for later use. You can filter out tweets using regular expressions (for example, all words beginning in “auto” using: /\Wauto/)

Once installed, it sits right next to the #Discover button in your twitter web interface. Just hit the filter button, fill out the hashtags or keywords that you want to zip them from your timeline or if you want to zip out all the tweets from specific people, then enter their twitter usernames. That’s it. It won’t show others that you’ve silenced them.

Editor’s note : It is one of the best method to zip tweets from someone without even blocking or unfollowing them. The other person won’t even know that you’re using this extension.
