Right Way to Use H1, H2, H3 Tags in a blog


H1, H2, H3 tags what are they? Why are they essential for SEO? H1, H2 and H3 are html tags. There are h1 to h6 tags to define HTML headings. H1 defines the most important heading, h6 defines the least. How are they important to use in a blog post? These html tags are used on the title, sub-headings etc. As you all know, Google considers the HTML tags as an important on-page SEO factor. These tags denotes the search spiders that the title with h1 tag is important, sub headings with h2 tags are second most important.

Whether you wrap your keyword inside these h1, h2, h3 tags are important for your on-page SEO. As said in the above paragraph, h1 tag is given highest rank and h6 tag is given the lowest. Search engines pay attention to these tags.


How to use H1, H2, and H3 tags? When to use? Where to use?

If you’re using WordPress, then you’re done almost 70% of on-page SEO. Because it’s search engine friendly. The title which you enter and other elements on the blog are automatically taken into h1, h2 tags. If you write an article, your article title is h1 tag. Headings inside the post can be tagged with h2 tags. Sub-headings within post can use h3 tag. Sidebar and footer titles can have h4 tags.

Actually there is no restriction on how many times one should use h1, h2, h3 tags in a post. For a better SEO, limit your tags. Let us see how to use these tags in the actual blog post.

Example: If you’re writing about “best sports car” which has an h1 tag, you can add h2 tags for sub headings like “prices of sports car”, “sports car engine specs” etc. You can further use h3 for long tail keywords like “comparison between two sports cars”. This will organize and structure the post in much better facing the SEO. If your content is more than 2000 words, you can use h4, h5, h6 tags.
