How to Boot Directly into Windows 8 Desktop

After the leaked version of Windows 8 RTM, I read news about MS blocks Windows 8 start button and boot to desktop hacks. But that’s not true. If you’re looking out for a way to book straight to Windows 8 Desktop, rather seeing the Metro tile start button, here are some quick ways. But I tell you, MS is trying hard to shove Metro UI down our throats, almost like they are afraid no one will like it.

Boot directly to desktop – Windows 8, a small utility that is perfectly working as of now on Windows 8 RTM final. You can easily boot straight into Windows 8 desktop without seeing the Metro. Check deviantart for more information on this freeware.

You can also use Start8 from startdock. Start8 brings the “Start” menu back to Windows 8. Adds start menu, quick search of applications installed, shutdown button etc. As of now, it works on Win 8 CP, but soon it will be compatible with final versions of the operating system.

Classic Shell is another small freeware that provides you a customizable Start menu and Start button for Windows 8. Check its features here.

Even try this registry hack – only for people who really know what it is. Beginners and non-technical people do not try.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Shell"="explorer.exe /select,explorer.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Shell"="explorer.exe /select,explorer.exe"
