As it is available on all mobile platforms right from Nokia Symbian, Android, iPhone, Blackberry cross platforms there wouldn’t be any issue. Now today we have something similar to Whatsapp called ‘GroupMe’.

It is a cross platform application available for android, iPhone, blackberry, Windows phone etc. Start groups with the people already in your contacts. When you send a message, everyone instantly receives it. It’s like a private chat room that works on any phone.
Difference between Whatsapp and GroupMe is that, on groupme you can create groups from your contacts list and hit a message to specific groups. You can also share images, do conference calls as well.
