Google+ has launched its Google+ Pages for brands and products few days back and now they have introduced Google+ badges a widget kind of thing that allows your website/blog readers to find your brand or website pages on Google+ there by increasing engagement with your readers on Google+. Similar to what Facebook offers a like widget for its facebook pages, Google+ offers Google+ badge widget for its Google+ pages.
Google plus platform has to say ” The Google+ badge helps you grow your audience on Google+ and show more recommendations in Google search by letting people add you to their circles and +1 your page, all without leaving your site.”
It’s so simple to create a Google+ badge for your brand or business. All you need is to have a Google+ page first. If you haven’t created a Google+ page yet, then follow this link to create a new Google+ page.
Then, right now the badge is only available if you sign up for the Google+ Platform Preview, but it will soon be publicly available. So, signup for the Google+ platform preview group. Once you’ve signed up, you will be sent a confirmation email – click on the link in the message to confirm your subscription. Then go to the Google+ badge configuration page to create your badges for Google+ pages.
Using this Google+ badges which will be placed on your website, it will be more easy for the readers to connect to your Google+ pages and subscribe to your posts and endorse and share your site.
Along with the Google+ badge, you can get more personal recommendations around the web, by connecting +1’s for your website with +1’s on your Google+ page. Qualify your Google+ page for Google+ direct connect before you embed the Google+ badge on your site. This google+ direct connect, which lets people type +your_site_name on Google search and automatically start following your page. For example : Type “+google” on Google search without quotes, you will be landing to the Google+ page directly.
Now to embed Google+ badge on your blogs/websites – Go to the badge configuration tool page and enter your Google+ page ID (the long numbers from the URL) and select the options such as small/medium/large badges and get the code, paste it in your theme template. Make sure you are signed up for the Google+ platform preview before you could see the Google+ badge. Because it is currently in beta stage and only available for platform preview users. Will be publicly available in coming weeks.
