How to auto close download bar chrome

Many people including me find it annoying when something is downloaded over Chrome browser because when a file is downloaded in Chrome browser, everytime I need to hit the X to close out that bar over and over is such a pain. All we need is, when the download is completed, the download bar should get clear by itself and leave the bottom of the screen. This one is one of the most requested features on Google Chrome browser.

Till now there isn’t any extension or default feature from the Chrome team. But few have discovered a way to get out of this pain. You can close it with the keyboard shortcuts, find it below :

Windows: Alt-F, D, TAB, TAB, [RETURN], CTRL-W

Mac: CMD-SHIFT-J, TAB, TAB, [RETURN], CMD-W

Windows: ALT-D, SHIFT-TAB, SHIFT-TAB, SHIFT-TAB, SPACEBAR

Mac: CMD-L, SHIFT-TAB, SHIFT-TAB, SHIFT-TAB, SPACEBAR

For a more easier way is, when the download is over – hit Ctrl-J Ctrl-W (this open the downloads tab and when hitting Ctrl-W closes it immediately)

There is no official extension or trick to close this download bar and as per Google team, they are yet to release this feature. So for the time being, you can simply hit ‘Ctrl-J’ and ‘Ctrl-W’ to close the download bar. On practice few times, this would become easy and handy – instead of moving the mouse to the X point and hitting it to close.
