We use Instant messengers in our daily internet life for chatting, video conferencing etc. There are many popular clients such as Yahoo messenger, Google talk, Third party clients such as Digsby, Pidgin etc. Today adding to the list of instant messaging clients, we have Pandion, an open source instant messaging client for XMPP networks. XMPP stands for Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol, an open, XML-based protocol for server-to-server near-real-time extensible instant messaging.

Pandion is an simple open source instant messaging client which is light weight and works like a charm with lot of animated emoticons, background themes for chat windows etc. It is compatible with any XMPP server, including Google Talk. Also it consumes low bandwidth when compared to other instant messaging clients.

One thing that I loved the most in Pandion is, you won’t have number of chat windows when you’re friends and co-workers ping you on chat, all the chat windows are displayed by tabs.

All you need to do is, Just download, install, run. Then sign in using your instant messaging address whether Yahoo or Gmail or Hotmail or what ever it may be.
