Chrome Voice Search, do Google Search by Speaking

in Google

In the chrome webstore, there is an excellent web app that does the Google search through voice recognition technology. Just install the web app on Chrome and do Google search just by speaking. You can simply hit the microphone button on Google chrome and say ‘Mobile phones’ , then it automatically recognizes your voice command and searches the item in Google search.

Voice Search Chrome web app is a simple web app for Google Chrome that lets you to search Google just by speaking. It comes pre-loaded with the following default services: Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and Wolfram|Alpha. You can also add your own user-defined search engines. It also integrates a speech input button for all websites using HTML5 search boxes, all of the default search engines’ websites, Facebook, Twitter, reddit, and GitHub.

This extension requires a microphone. Speech input is very experimental, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work. Also, try to speak clearly for best speech recognition results. To add custom search engines, you need to go to options and set your search engine from it. You can also delete the pre-loaded search engines

All you need to do is, just install the app from Chrome web store and Once you’ve installed, you can see a small microphone icon on your address bar, click that and select the services which you want to search such as Google or Youtube or Bing etc. Then click the icon and start speaking your search. Once you’ve stopped speaking, it does the search by taking your voice command through voice recognition technology.

I should work. It doesn’t deal with xp or windows 7. Make sure you have Chrome version 8 to work.

The version 9.0 must be tweaked little. Do lookout at the app page for instructions to make it work on v9.0
