Pidgin users really miss out the fun on Facebook since they can’t use Facebook Chat inside Pidgin by default. In this post, I will be guiding you on installing Facebook Chat for Pidgin. Even if you haven’t used Pidgin, I am sure this is worth trying since Facebook Chat isn’t too good.
Here are the steps you need to follow to get the plugin installed:
- Download Pidgin-Facebook chat plugin file
- Install the file you downloaded from the link above (make sure Pidgin is closed during the installation process).
- Open Pidgin -> Accounts -> Manage Accounts -> Add
- Choose Facebook from the list of Protocols and give the appropriate credentials (you may/may not choose Mail notifications it’s nothing but the Facebook Notifications)., now you are good to go.
If you don’t like Pidgin you may try similar IM Clients like Trillian or Digsby, they include native support for Facebook Chat.
