We’ve all heard of CCleaner or Crap Cleaner. It’s a wonderful freeware from Piriform that cleans the unnecessary files and registry entries that take up your computer space and slow it down. If you are tired of waiting for the defrag process to complete everytime, this is a good alternative. Windows by default has a cleaner,But, I feel that Ccleaner is a lot more effective.
The Disk cleanup option does it’s job very well, But, lacks the smartness CCleaner has. CCleaner detects and cleans files from the less obvious places too, whereas the Disk Cleanup doesn’t. CCleaner’s functionality is divided into three departments:
- Cleaner
- Registry and
- Tools
- Cleaner (the first module) does all the cleaning job. It first analyses the amount of space it can free up. It also provides a check box interface in the left, so as to let you decide what to clean up and what not to clean up. The screenshot below shows the Cleaner process.
- Registry: cleans up the errors found in the registry and makes your computer more stable and faster than ever before. It also gives you an option of backing up your registry just in case something goes wrong.
- The Tools section makes uninstalling software easy. Tom Merritt once demonstrated that this uninstaller function is faster than Add/Remove Programs built into Windows.

The must have software to make your PC work efficiently. Im using it from past year. The best software for PC’s performance :)
CCleaner is lite and very powerful must have tool for PC, Piriform’s other free wares are excellent like Recuva for file recovery.
I have been using CC Cleaner for years now. It is a great program that very rarely makes mistakes when deleting registry entries or Temp Files. However with any software that changes your registry you should be careful when using it.
