Whenever you download files on Firefox browser, it will show you preferences for saving the files into folder (file explorer). Now with the help of this Firefox add-on, you don’t have to worry. This add-on filter file types and save to the folders you set.
Automatic Save Folder is an add-on for Mozilla Firefox web browser. When downloading a file, Automatic Save Folder automatically select the folder where the file will be be saved to and/or where the file explorer will be opened using simple filters you set before.
For instance, you can set to automatically download all the .png and .jpg files to your Wallpapers folder, all the .zip files to the Downloads folder and so on. The filters are based on filenames and hosted domain’s name.
The filters are easy to create and can be based on the file’s name, the hosted file’s domain or the current website’s URL.
To make it clear, if you save files everytime from www.example.com/homework/docs – all the documents related to homework will be saved in c://mydocuments/homework/docs
If you want all your executable files .exe to be saved in a specific folder:
- domain: all
- filter: .exe
- folder: your executable files folder
Now if you want all the files from a particular website (mozilla.org for example) to be saved in a Mozilla folder:
- domain: mozilla.org
- filter: all
- folder: your Mozilla folder
Some features of Automatic Save Folder are :
1. Select the saving folder from the user’s filters list
2. Filter the download by file’s name, hosted domain and current website URL
3. Can automatically accept the download (no need to click the OK button)
