Raja, so far, has four Tamil films to his credit – Jayam, M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, Something Something Unakkum Enakkum, and Santosh Subramaniam. The director has carved a niche for himself in directing family entertainers.

Confirming reports that he is directing the Ilaya Thalapathy is director Jayam Raja. “It’s true that I narrated two scripts to him which he liked. He will be directed by me but I’m not sure if that will be his 50th film or not,” opens up director Jayam Raja.
Speculations are still on that it will be Vijay’s film following Vettaikaaran- which is his 49th flick. His 50th film was said to be produced by his father SA Chandrasekaran, though it is yet to be confirmed.
